Since 2017 I am in possession of a heavy-duty shelf, which has accompanied me in my artistic work and in my everyday life ever since. During my studies in South Korea in 2017 I stored my household items left behind in it. In 2018 it served as a storage space for materials in my shared studio. In the same year I discovered the potential of the shelf’s changeable structure and started to convert it into different presentation surfaces. Thus it became a stage for observing my materials. The experiments with the shelf culminated in my diploma Heavy Duty II in July 2022, in which I divided the shelf into ten segments of which each contains an object. The individual segments contain, in addition to the objects, a setting with which I i.a explore possible venues in a real (walkable) space.  The shelf represents a mobile design platform that will be continuously restructured depending on the works I create.

Two figures face each other on the middle of the shelf. Each of their eyes is connected with a string to one eye of the opposite person’s eye. In real size, their blinking sets the two strings into a fluttering play. This segment represents my collaboration with Haluk Mirac Aykin.

A hair is attached to the tip of a second hand, at the end of which is a sewing needle. With the ticking of the clock, a circular abrasion becomes apparent over time on a piece of paper underneath. The scenery of this segment consists of a cladding with metal bars.

Through a mirror in the upper segment of the shelf, a drawing of two mouths hung upside down can be seen. The color of the drawing is found in those areas of the room where two different surfaces meet: in the horizon line of a landscape painting, where heaven and earth meet, and in the joint of the exhibition space, where wall and floor meet.
